Summary

A historic communication system comprising of a rectangular bell board containing 30 signal indicator panels with four electric bells, in a dark wooden frame. Made by A.J. Hartill & Co. Wolverhampton. Rectangular bell board with a glass screen. In the bottom left hand corner is the lettering 'A.J. HARTILL & Co.' and in the bottom right hand corner is the lettering 'WOLVERHAMPTON', both are in gold coloured capital lettering. The board comprises of 30 indicator panels each with red and white vertical striped paper flags within, which swing horizontally when the relevant bell is pushed. The flags move in conjunction with the metal bells ringing. The bells are attached along the bottom of the board in a central position. Each indicator panel location is written in red capital lettering above the panel window. Each panel window is framed with two gold coloured borders, the inner border is a thick line and the outer border is a thin line. A thin gold coloured line borders the whole of the board face within the wooden frame. Two indicator windows have no letter above them.
