Summary

A historic communication system comprising of a rectangular bell board containing 20 signal indicator panels. Made by E.J. Hartill Wolverhampton. Rectangular bell board with a glass screen, framed in a dark wooden frame. In the bottom left hand corner is the lettering 'E.J. HARTILL' and in the bottom right hand corner is the lettering 'WOLVERHAMPTON', both are in red coloured capital lettering. The board comprises of 20 indicator panels each with red and white vertical striped paper flags within, which swing horizontally when the relevant bell is pushed. The flags move in conjunction with the metal bell ringing. The bell, which is missing, was attached along the base of the board in a central position. Each indicator panel location is written in red capital lettering above the panel window, two indicator windows have no letter above them. Each panel window is framed with two gold coloured borders, the inner border is a thick line and the outer border is a thin line. A thin gold coloured line borders the whole of the board face within the wooden frame. A small metal structure is exposed in the centre at the bottom of the board where the metal bell was originally attached.
