Watercolour and bodycolour on paper, Monifieth Church Window by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Co.(Morris & Co.) (1861-1940); after William Morris (Walthamstow 1834 - Hammersmith 1896), Philip Speakman Webb (Oxford 1831 - West Sussex 1915) and possibly Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones (Birmingham 1833 - London 1898). Inscribed 'Design for a window for [...] in Monifieth Ch. in memory of Mr. Erskine 1/2 inch = 1 foot The property of Morris & Company 26 Queen Sqr. Bloomsbury'. Also inscribed with faint pencil 'Monifieth "1/2 = 1 foot Inscription'. Handwritten in black ink on mount 'Philip Webb'. A stained glass window design for a window of Monifieth Church. Two lights each depicting a saint, with a smaller group scene of figures below. Background of scolling foliage design. Irregular diamond light in centre above depicting an angel with a banner in foreground. Drawn at a scale of 1/2 inch to 1 foot. The figures were likely designed by the studio of Burne-Jones; the backgrounds and foliage were designed by Morris.
