Summary
A set of eight beech and rush ladder-back chairs, comprising two open armchairs and six single chairs, British, 19th century, the two armchairs each with six shaped and graduated horizontal splats between two circular uprights with turned finials, the shaped armrests on turned supports, the square rush seat with thin wooden seat rail, the turned front legs terminating in small pad feet atop circular blocks, with chamfered square-section legs to the rear, with two stretchers to each side, a single to the rear, and a single turned stretcher to the front, the single chairs each with five shaped and graduated horizontal splats between two circular uprights with turned finials, the square rush seat with think wooden seat rails, on turned front legs terminating in pad feet on small shaped blocks, with chamfered square-section legs to the rear, two stretchers to each side, a single stretcher to the rear, and a single turned stretcher to the front.
