Summary
A mahogany and brass billiard cue rack, London, circa 1911-1936, by Thurston & Co. Ltd., formed of a rectangular block with rounded front affixed to the wall with two brass brackets, the base of the rectangular block affixed with a horizontal section with three indented sections, above each indent is a brass fitting for holding a cue in place. Together with a billiard table (1288230.1), scoreboard (1288230.2), billiard balls (1288230.3), set of cues (1288230.4), a twelve-section billiard cue rack (1288230.6).
Provenance
In 1937 Sir Geoffrey Mander and his wife Rosalie gifted Wightwick Manor, its contents and gardens to the National Trust. Sir Geoffrey and his family continued to occupy and manage Wightwick adding to the collection in collaboration with the National Trust. Sir Geoffrey died in 1962 but Lady Mander continued to live at Wightwick until her death in 1988. This billiard table and its accessories are listed in the Wightwick Manor 1937 inventory.
