Summary
Eight day, half-hour striking carriage clock, in gilt brass case with gilt brass and silvered dial, French, circa 1900. 2 train, four-pillar going-barrel movement with silvered brass Swiss club-tooth lever platform escapement. Flirt action rack half-hour striking on a gong. The silvered brass chapter ring on the dial has printed, black arabic numerals, the ring surrounded by a chased and engraved gilt-brass mask, engraved with scrolling and matted decoration. The blued steel hands are of fleur-de-lis and poker type. The glazed gilt-brass case has four columns to the corners, with chased capitals, bases and central doubleknops, with a moulded top and bottom to the case and a shaped carrying handle with matching double knopped centre. The front top is engraved: “ “DELAVAL” NOV. 24. 1903. FROM E. & A. S.”. The front edge of the base is also engraved: “May time to come bring you happiness”. The base is covered with a brass panel.
