Summary
One of three plaster plaques in high relief of Bernard Shaw by his friend Rosie Banks Danecourt. The portrait is quarter length, with Shaw depicted resting his head in his hands, wearing a dark red coat and large floppy hat. Possibly a maquette for the brass door-knocker, where Shaw is shown wearing a large sombrero, with head in hands.The other two plaster plaques in this series reveal Shaw in a similar pose. (1275322.2-3). With wire loop for hanging.
Provenance
The Shaw Collection. The house and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by George Bernard Shaw in 1950, together with Shaw's photographic archive.
