Summary
One of three plaster plaques in high relief of Bernard Shaw by his friend Rosie Banks Danecourt. The portrait is quarter length, with Shaw depicted resting his head in his hands. Painted in yellow ochre.The other two plaques reveal Shaw in a similar pose. (1275322.1; 1275322.3). With wire loop for hanging.
Provenance
The Shaw Collection. The house and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by George Bernard Shaw in 1950, together with Shaw's photographic archive.
Marks and inscriptions
On label below figure: "G.B.SHAW". Around figure and on sides of plaque: Titles of Shaw's plays and date 1947. On back: "G.B.Shaw age 90 Years Young 1946 (1947) Danecourt Model".
