Summary
Watercolour on paper, Mediterranean Doorway by Edwin Glasgow (Liverpool 1874 - Charlbury 1955), signed and dated E Glasgow 27 [1927]. Four ladies sit at a doorway, and another stands behind. Above the doorway is a carved stone armorial and green balustrade. Acquired by Charlotte Shaw as a memento from her travels during the 1930s. The artist Edwin Glasgow was a Keeper at the National Gallery in London.
Provenance
The Shaw Collection. The house and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by George Bernard Shaw in 1950, together with Shaw's photographic archive.
