Summary
One of two amethyst seals, the larger, here, showing the family coat-of-arms after Admiral Anson's marriage to Lady Elizabeth Yorke on 25 April 1748, with Anson quartering Carrier impaling Yorke, a lion replacing his original sea lion, along with a seahorse. as supporters, Note the arms are in reverse for use as a seal, traces of red sealing wax are visible in the details. The motto is 'Nil Desparandum' (Latin, Never Despair)
