Summary
Tooled and painted leather fragments. Remainders from the leather wall covering used in the Spanish Room at Kingston Lacy.
Provenance
William wrote from Venice in 1849, 'I have at length purchased hangings of gilded leather sufficient, I trust, for the whole walls, but as the quantity runs very close, I want the utmost precision in the dimensions'. William calculated it cost him, 'about 13 shillings the square yard, without jointing or carriage'.
