Summary
Bronze on bronze pedestal, King Charles I (1600-1649) by Baron Carlo Marochetti, RA (Turin 1805 – Passy, Paris 1867), 1853/55. A full-length life-size statue of King Charles I (1600-1649), seated wearing armour and knee-length boots, his right hand rests on knee of his right leg which is slightly raised on a small block, his left hand rests on his plumed hat which hangs from his left arm-rest, a sword hangs on the left side from a sword-belt worn across his chest, with the relief of Corfe Castle (KLA/M/190.3) below.

Commmissioned by William John Bankes (1786 - 1855), 18th November 1853; and thence by descent; bequeathed by (Henry John) Ralph Bankes (1902 – 1981) together with the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy and its entire contents
