Summary
The seat cushion of one of a pair of solid ebony and cane day beds, Anglo-Indian, probably Ceylon, mid 19th century. Each with twin scrolled sides boldly carved with scrolls and floral decoration centred by a stylized flower head medallion and continuing to a reeded moulded seat frame. With caned seat panels and loose textile cushions raised on scroll and floral carved legs. For a near identical design of sofa see (NT1254558) also in the Saloon at Kingston Lacy.
