Summary
A Letter of Condolence from G E Wright
Full description
Captain The Hon Ronald Fulke Greville died on 5th April from pneumonia following an operation on 31st March for cancer of the larynx. This letter was sent to his widow, Margaret Greville. Written in ink on a sheet of writing paper. The Hon Mrs Ronald Greville is written in one quatre. The letter is written on the other three quatres. This letter could have been folded and presented or poasted. Addressed: The Lodge, Merchant Taylors School, Charterhouse Square, EC Dated: 7th April 1908. Transcription: Dear Madame, Will you kindly allow Mrs Wright and myself to offer you our sincere sympathy in your great affliction. I may state that I served under the late Captain Greville, as his Corpl. Major for several years, (D Squadron) and we were all very sorry indeed when he left us at Windsor. It is my intention to obtain a photo of my late Captain, and it is hard to realise that he has gone from us. Trusting you will pardon my writing to you. Believe me, yours most respectfully, G E Wright. Interestingly in the NT Collection we have several photos of Ronald Greville, signed by Margaret Greville, which were sent out after his death.
