Full description
Captain The Hon Ronald Fulke Greville died on 5th April from pneumonia following an operation on 31st March for cancer of the larynx. This letter was sent to his widow, Margaret Greville. Written on headed writing paper from Salisbury Hall, St Albans, dated 13th April 1908. Dearest Maggie, I heard today from Sarah that you are leaving England tomorrow. I cannot let you go without telling you how deeply I feel for you in this deep sorrow which has befallen you. Words are of little comfort at such a time but it is something to know that your friends grieve for you. It was all so rapid and sudden and must have been a dreadful shock to you - I am glad to think that you have your cherished father to look after you I do hope your health is not suffering in anyway I trust going to other scenes may bring you a little peace of mind with the deepest sympathy from us both Yrs Affectly Jennie Cornwallis West Jennie was a frequent guest of Margaret 's at Polesden Lacey from 1909 - 1920.
