Summary
A Letter of Condolence from Thomas Anthony 'Hwfa' Williams 1849 - 1926
Full description
Captain The Hon Ronald Fulke Greville died on 5th April from pneumonia following an operation on 31st March for cancer of the larynx. This letter was sent to his widow, Margaret Greville. Written on headed writing paper from the Marlborough Club, Pall Mall SW Monday My dear Mrs Greville, I was more than shocked to hear of your irreparable loss, and although poor Ronnie had undergone a severe operation, this terrible blow to you must have been both sudden and unexpected - I have known him since he was a boy, and he has been a good & kind friend to me, I shall miss him always - I sympathize most deeply with you, and I am so sorry I am so wholly unable to adequately express how much I am feeling for you. Yrs very sincerely Hwfa Williams Hwfa and his wife Florence visited Reigate Priory and Polesden Lacey as guests of the Grevilles. As part of the Marlborough House set they attended the first weekend at Polesden Lacey with Edward VII.
