Full description
Captain The Hon Ronald Fulke Greville died on 5th April from pneumonia following an operation on 31st March for cancer of the larynx. This letter was sent to his widow, Margaret Greville. Written on headed writing paper from The Grove, Watford, on April 8th 1908 My dear Maggie, Just a few lines from a truly sympathetic friend to say how I grieve for you in these dark days of sadness. I don't like to intrude upon your sorrow but if these few words can bring you any comfort I shall be pleased to think that I had helped in some small way. I also wanted you to know how much I had been thinking of you. Yrs Affectionately, Edith Villiers The Grove served as the family seat of the Earls of Clarendon, the Villiers family, from 1776 - 1820. Edith visited Polesden Lacey in July 1909 as a guest of Margaret Greville.
