Cartier box made in red leather box
Full description
The shape of these boxes made for specific items was to display and protect them. The top name, Paris, 13 Rue de la Paix was where the item was bought. The second address London 4 New Burlington St. advertised the new London shop. The red leather box's lid is tooled with a line of gold which curves on the corners around simple rosette. This pattern is repeated on all side of the box. It is front opening is a simple button lock with a hinged fleur de Lys. The doors open to display the silk and velvet lining. On both doors is the name Cartier, which is framed and garlanded. It has not been established what was in this box.
