Full description
Cuthbert is looking directly at the camera and is wearing a bowler hat, holding a cigar in his right hand and a walking stick in his right. He has a large moustache and is wearing a three piece suit, a white shirt with a wing collar and tie. Signed 'Cuthbert Larking 1896' and noted on the reverse 'Col. Cuthbert Larking' in pencil. Cuthbert married Lady Adela Marie Hare, who was half-sister to Cecelia Paget. This family were frequent guests of Margaret Greville at Polesden Lacey. Cuthbert Larkin was served in the 15th Hussars; became equerry to the Duke of Connaught and served Queen Victoria and Edward VII as Extra Equerry and Gentleman Usher. He was also a sportsman and wrote three novels and a travel book.
