Full description
The gentleman wearing a judge's wig and a lace cravat is looking towards the right. A medal can be seen on his left shoulder. This is a Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee Medal with a bar inscribed 1887. It was awarded to those involved in the official celebrations, including members of the Royal Family, Royal household and government officials, Envoys, foreign Ambassadors and colonial Prime Ministers. Military recipients included selected officers, sailors and soldiers of the Royal Navy and Army, the Indian and colonial contingents that participated in jubilee activities including the London parade and the Royal Navy review at Spithead. Ten years later the holders of this medal qualified for the diamond Jubilee Medal and were awarded a bar inscribed 1897 to attach to the ribbon of their existing medal.
