A studio portrait of Violet mounted on cream card.
Full description
Violet stands leaning against a 'leafy tree trunk' looking right. Her right arm is bent and her head is resting on her palm. Her left hand is loosely holding a sprig of flowers and leaves. Violet's skirt is smooth, tightly waisted, and the bodice is made with layers of material rushed and banded, her sleeves are very full. She is wearing a necklace from which hangs a pendant. Both of Violet's daughters visited Polesden Lacey. Violet Mildred Emily, later Lady Apsley (1895 - 1966) before and after her marriage, between 1922 - 1928, She also dined at 16 Charles Street in 1929. Daisy 'Finola' ( 1896 - 1981) visited Polesden Lacey between 1922 - 1936, and also dined at 16 Charles Street, with her husband, Lord Somers, between 1934 - 1937.
