Summary
Studio publicity photograph of Loie Fuller.
Full description
Loie was born in America and became well known for the swirling dances. Her dresses, designed by her, included folds of material and even extension rods to make a wide and undulating circle when she moved. In this image she is wearing her 'Snake Dress'. Loie focused stage lighting on her productions, with coloured overlays, and reflective paints on her clothes. Her cabaret shows were famous. Margaret Greville, and perhaps her mother, would have seen her perform in Paris.
