Summary
Studio portrait of photograph Veronique Greville the sister of Ronald Greville, husband of Margaret Greville. She is sitting on a bench which is covered with the silky skirt of her dress. Her hands rest on her lap, loosely holding white silk. A bracelet or watch can be seen on her left wrist. Her dress has large puffed sleeves to the elbow, the bodice and lower sleeves are covered with a gauzy fabric. The background of sky and trees is painted. Signed and dated: Veronique 1895.

Photograph, The Hon. Veronique Lilian Violet Greville, The Hon. Mrs Herbert Victor Creer (1870-1956) by Alice Hughes (photographer) London. Sister of Ronald Greville. Signed, Veronique, 1895. Veronique Lilian Violet Greville (1870-1956) was the youngest sister of Ronald Greville. In July 1907 she married Commander. Herbert Victor Creer, R.A.N, son of Capt. Joseph Creer of Sydney, New South Wales. This photograph was taken by Alice Hughes, eldest daughter of the society portrait painter Edward Hughes, who opened her studio as the first gentlewoman photographer in 1891. She started the fashion for being photographed in large hats and evening dresses in the style of Reynolds and Gainsborough.
