A studio portrait of Lady Mary. Signed but not dated.
Full description
Lady Curzon is seated in a wooden high backed chair reading a book. She is wearing a pale square necked bodice, a fine gauze shawl and a dark long skirt. On her wrist is a bracelet. The portrait is of Mary Curzon, only daughter of Col. The Hon. Montague Curzon. Mary married Francis Richard Henry Penn Kidston (later 5th Earl Howe) on 28 October 1907. They had a son, Edward Richard and a daughter, Georgina Mary. They divorced in 1937. In 1944 Mary resumed using the name of Curzon and in 1957 married Lt-Col. Lewis Stanton Starkey. Yevonde was a pioneer of photographic techniques, particularly the Vivex, an early colour photography process.
