Full description
A group of nine photographs of The Duke and Duchess of York whilst on their honeymoon. Margaret Greville had lent the royal couple Polesden Lacey for the first ten days of their married life. . They are warmly dressed. The Duke is wearing a tweed jacket and trousers, shirt, striped tie and flat cap. The Duchess is wearing a trimmed woollen skirt and jacket, a rounded necked top and a cloche hat. She has a single rope of pearls around her neck. It was a prearranged photoshoot for the press.
Provenance
The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943. This item found on the record for Polesden Lacey pictures, drawings etc., the passage to Mrs Greville's Bedroom, page 138.
