A full length official portrait of Queen Mary
Full description
Queen Mary is wearing formal regalia; Queen Alexandra's Kokoshnik tiara, Queen Victoria's Chaine de Corsage (both made by Gerrads) and Queen Alexandra's Collier Résille hung with some 'Cullinan diamonds' made by Cartier; The Queen is also displaying official Orders on her sash. On the Back is written: With best wishes & grateful thanks for your beautiful present. On the front, signed and dated: 'Mary' 1932 Queen Mary visited Polesden Lacey as a guest of Margaret Greville with whom she exchanged Christmas gifts. Queen Mary was the only daughter of Francis, Duke of Teck and Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge. Mary was engaged to Albert, Duke of Clarence but following his early death in 1892 she became betrothed to his brother, George Frederick Ernest Albert, later King George V. They had six children; the two eldest became King Edward VIII (abdicated 1936) and King George VI.
