Full description
A young girl standing in profile looking towards the right. A three-quarter length portrait with a background of hazy sky and the sea at the bottom left. She both hand are held up with finger tips touching. Smythe studied at the Manchester School of Art and exhibited at the Royal Academy and Berlin Academy. This image was engraved in Old Bond Street, London in 1908 entitled The Golden Age, after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) There was a first print run of 300 copies selling for 4gns each. This image was published, framed and sold by Mark White, 10 Davis Street, Berkley Square.
