A mezzotint by Norman Hirst of Miss Hickey's portrait which Joshua Reynolds painted in 1773.
Full description
A half-length portrait of Mary set against a mottled background. She is wearing a large pale hat decorated with soft folds of silk; she is looking directly at the viewer. Dressed in an elegant dark dress with a soft v-neckline, and a loose shawl over. She has a simple band around her neck and is resting her gloved hands on the back of a wooden pedestal. Painted by Joshua Reynolds; she was the eldest daughter of his friend and attorney, Joseph Hickey. The painting can be seen at the Yale Centre for Art. A second version is in private ownership. Published and printed by Thomas Agnew & Sons. Framed and sold by Mark White, 10 Davis St., Berkley Square.
