A mezzotint by Norman Hirst of Sarah Siddons, after Grainsborough.
Full description
Gainsborough painted Mrs Siddons in the winter of 1784/5. She is portrayed in fashionable contemporary dress. She wears a black beaver hat trimmed with ribbon and ostrich feathers, and a blue striped 'wrapping-gown', yellow mantle and fox-fur muff. This portrait hang in the National Gallery, London. This engraving, first published 1st July 1916, would have been published, framed and sold by Thomas Agnew & Sons.
