Summary
Margaret Greville's miniature medal celebrating the Coronation of Edward VII, 1902
Full description
A miniature Edward VII coronation medal. The obverse has a profile of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, crowned and facing left and surrounded by a wreath that forms the rim of the medal. The reverse shows the king's cyphers above the date 26 June 1902, surrounded by a wreath in the same form as the obverse. The medal was awarded to royalty, officials, dignitaries and the armed forces, the ribbon is dark blue with one central red stripe and white edges on either side. Ladies could wear this medal near their left shoulder with the ribbon tied in the form of a bow. This medal was made by Sir George J Frampton (1860 - 1928) for the Mint, Birmingham Ltd. in 1902. Margaret Greville attended the coronation, as we believe did her parents, William and Helen McEwan, née Anderson, and her husband, Hon Ronald Greville. In the collection is a ticket for luncheon at the Houses of Parliament. NT 1246410
