Full description
One of two milk churns with locking clasps and 2 handles, each with two inscribed plates. The inscription states ‘HON. MRS GREVILLE / FULL TO / VICTORIA STATION LONDON’. Milk and other fresh produce from the farms at Polesden Lacey, were sent up to London daily when Mrs Greville was in residence at her Mayfair home. Deliveries continued during the Second World War when Mrs Greville was residing at the Dorchester Hotel.
