Summary
A set of eleven limed oak kitchen chairs, English, early to mid-20th century, by Waring & Gillow. Including one open armchair [NT 1246080.11] and ten standard chairs. All with broad toprail, slatted back, dished seat and stylized cabriole legs united by a double 'H'-stretcher.
Provenance
Date of acquisition not recorded; bequeathed by Margaret McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald Greville (1863-1942) with Polesden Lacey, to the National Trust, in memory of her father, William McEwan (1827-1913) in 1942.
