Summary
A mahogany and crossbanded sofa table, English, early 19th century. The rectangular top with two rounded drop-leaves and inlaid with a crossband of satinwood within a kingwood border. The frieze fitted to one side with two drawers, and to the other faced as two false drawers. Raised on four turned balusters above a platform on four hipped and boxwood-strung downswept legs, terminating in cast brass caps and castors.
Provenance
The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943. This item found on the record for Polesden Lacey Terrace Room, page 61.
