Summary
A set of four beech open armchairs in the Louis XVI-style, English, early 20th century, probably designed by Mewès and Davis and made by Waring & Gillow. Each with a padded and upholstered back with an arched toprail and a moulded frame. The arms padded and upholstered and on reeded and moulded arm supports either side of a bow-front stuff-over seat. The legs turned, fluted and tapering and headed by a floral patera. Upholstered in pale yellow striped silk. The chairs probably originally painted white or cream. The same design as chairs which furnished the Palm Court of The Ritz, Piccadilly in 1907.
