Summary
A carved mahogany occasional table, English, late 19th/early 20th century. Retailed by Druce and Co. Ltd of Baker Street, London, and bearing their label and the words 'FROM / SECOND HAND DEPARTMENT'. The circular top with pie-crust edge above plain friezes with beaded lower edge. Raised on four scallop shell and husk-carved legs terminating in pad feet.
Provenance
Date of acquisition not recorded but possibly at Polesden in 1903; bequeathed by Margaret McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald Greville (1863-1942) with Polesden Lacey, to the National Trust, in memory of her father, William McEwan (1827-1913) in 1942.
