Caption

Noah’s Ark toys were one of the few toys Victorian children were allowed to play with on a Sunday. Toys and books were banned, unless they related to the church and the bible.

Provenance

Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
