Summary
Display made of painted wood, painted plaster (or earthenware) and silk representing Momotarō, a popular figure from Japanese folklore. Momotarō emerged as a baby from a large peach that had been found by an old childless couple. He later defeated a band of demons with the help of a dog, a monkey and a pheasant
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
