Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Beatrice Elizabeth Cowx, Lady Armstrong (1862-1934), British (English) School, c.1916. Head and shoulders portrait of a woman, turned slightly to the right, gazing to the left, in a black dress edged with white, and a white feather boar. Brown eyes, fair hair twined with leaves, ear-rings, pearl necklace, diamond brooch. Sky background. One of a pair of miniatures, of Lord and Lady Armstrong in separate brown leather folding frames.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
