Summary
Stuffed white Gyrfalcon (of the Greenland variety) standing on a rock over a Mallard's bloody head. In a brass-mounted glass display case on an oak base with bun feet. Identified by James Dickinson, National Trust Taxidermist, on 14.07.2003 as a 'Green Gyrfalcon' ('Gyr' pronounced 'Jer'). Mounted by John Hancock (1808-1898).
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
