Summary
Three stuffed Wheatears, in summer plumage, in an ebonised display case with a glazed front. Birds were shot at Melich, Sutherland Shire, in 1889. The male and female were shot at Midgeley (?) House in May 1890. Display dated February (?) 18th 1891.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
Marks and inscriptions
Bird in summer plumage shot at Melich, Sutherlandshire, 1889. Male and female shot at Midgeley (?) House, May 1890. Set up February (?) 18 1891. OCC fecit.
