Portrait miniature, gouache on ivory, Sir William George Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong of Cragside (1810-1900) by Edward Tayler (Orbe, Switzerland 1828 – London 1906) . Oval. Head and shoulders portrait facing, in a light blue coat edged with brown fur. Blue eyes, sparse white hair and whiskers, aged about 75. Orange-brown background. Signed E.T.

Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
