Summary

Grey wool coat with long sleeves, a tie belt (no buttons) and a full light brown fur collar lined in silk. The label reads: 'Gown specialist GERTRUDE READ 11 Victoria Parade, Torquay'. The coat belonged to author Dame Agatha Christie (1890-1976). She wore this coat in a photographic portrait with her husband Sir Max Mallowan (1904-1978), taken by John Hedgecoe in 1969 (National Portrait Gallery P771).
