Summary
American striking mantel clock circa 1890, by the Ansonia Clock Company, New York. Eight day running time with two train, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and locking plate strike. Press gilt metal dial with Arabic numerals and pressed radial decoration to centre dial. Blued steel fleur-de-lis and poker hands. Regulation at twelve. Solid oak case with carved applied pillars and decoration to front. Chased brass bezel, low block feet. Model 'Sharon' on label inside back door.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
