Summary
Fortin barometer and thermometer by Negretti and Zambra. (T.B.Winter ?) in bronze patinated brass case mounted on a mahogany wall bracket by Negretti and Zambra the most prolific and leading makers of all types of barometers during the second half of the nineteenth century. They exhibited and were prize winners at the Great Exhibition 1851 and were barometer makers to the Queen and Prince Consort.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
