Armchair from a set of two arm and four single ebonised chairs designed by Norman Shaw and made by Gillows of Lancaster, with tooled leather backs and seats in canework, on turned legs with understretchers.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
