Summary
One of four ebonised corner writing armchairs designed by Norman Shaw and made by Gillows of Lancaster, the splats in the back decorated with vases of flowers in gold, with loose seats in gilt-tooled leather, on cabriole legs with understretchers.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
