Summary
Woodblock print, ink and pigments on paper, the central section of a triptych entitled Sumidagawa setchū no zu (Sumida River in snow), from the series Edo Meisho Shiki no Nagame (Views of the Four Seasons in Edo’s Famous Places), after Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858), 1843–7, signed lower left Hiroshige ga (picture by Hiroshige). Depicting two female figures walking under a parasol in the snow, the Sumida River behind.
Provenance
Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
