Summary
White chocolate box with lid. contains box (i) 'copper panels and nails from the Eye Temple at Brak'; box (ii) 'Copper for analysis Brak' 'copper panels and nails from Eye Temple sanctuary at Brak'; box (iii) wooden box labeled 'copper nails'; paper envelope containing 'copper pin in 4 fragments'; compartment with copper pin. Stuart Blaylock 2008: : a white ‘chocolate box’ with tight-fitting lid, unmarked. [Catalist no. 122566] Contains metal finds from Tell Brak, many packed in cotton wool, so not disturbed on 13.viii.06 (see Mallowan 1947, 258, for published discussion of these objects). Mainly copper-alloy finds from the Eye Temple. Slip of paper inside saying from C.H.Desch, Iron and Steel Institute, 4 Grosvenor Gardens, SW1. **Conservation priority, as contains Cu Alloys in varying stages of deterioration. Details of sub-boxes: Box 1 (122566/01): labelled ‘Box 1 (G558 Beads [deleted])’. Paper label inside, ‘Box 1: (1) Copper panels and Nails from the Eye Temple at BRAK; (a) from the sanctuary walls, Date c.3000 BC; (b) Also 2 copper pins from the same temple, Date c.3000 BC.’ Box 2 (now 122566/02): White box, labelled ‘Copper for analysis, BRAK’, paper label inside reading: ‘ Box 2. Copper panels and nails from the sanctuary of the Eye Temple at Brak. Date c.3000 BC.’ Box 3 (now 122566/03): Wooden box with Cu alloy nails. Slip of paper inside reading: ‘Box 3. Copper nails from the golden frieze in the sanctuary of the Eye Temple at Brak (The Nails were used to fix the frieze to the pedestal). Date c.3000 BC’. Photographed (as no detailed list or coverage before): no. 2058. Envelope 4 (now 122566/04): Date 2400 BC. ‘Copper pin in 3 fragments, conical shaped head, from Court Houses, 7.447.’"
