Summary
A gilt birch fauteuil or open armchair, made as a later addition to the Congress of Vienna Chairs NT1220560 in 1933 The moulded frame with upholstered back, seat and arm pads in worked in wool and silk petit point with Londonderry and Royal Coat of Arms, on old gold coloured wool needlework ground, raised on square section tapered legs. Two armchairs were made as copies of the Congress chairs made and stamped in 1933 by William Gibson, the Mount Stewart estate joiner, these were decorated with bronze paint simulating gold.
