Summary
Sarcophagus of Lady Londonderry with carved scenes of life of Lady Londonderry and her life interests. Carving of coronet, surmounted with two Coats of Arms in oval frames, left hand frame depicts Arms of Londonderry family. Right frame depicts Arms of unknown family - possibly Chaplin family. East side separated into three large segments with four smaller segments between and at the sides. Celtic knots separate the panels. Left to right - (1) small panel showing griffin on a knight's helmet above a shield, (2) large panel showing horse, (3) small panel depicting fuchsia plant, (4) central large panel depicting eagle on a summit, (5) small panel depicting flowering plant, (6) large panel depicting stag, (7) small panel reverse of (1) North side - large panel showing 'ark' shaped boat with mast and rigging. West side - same as east side, separated into panels. (1) small panel, same as (1) on east side, (2) large panel showing two large dogs with figure crouched behind, (3) small panel depicting rhododendrons, (4) central large panel depicting parrot on hoop with books on shelves in background, (5) small panel showing roses, (6) large panel depicting terrace at Italian Garden with two bay trees with birds and squirrels, four small dogs in the foreground, (7) small panel showing reverse of (1) Lid - large Celtic cross made up of Celtic knots at top - below - four large symbols - Large Star - Red Cross Shield - Insignia of Women's Legion - Shield with Large Cross - roses at sides. Side has Celtic knot design in a link chain design.
